Located on a narrow peninsula in southeastern Uruguay is the seaside city of Punta del Este. The National Park Laguna San Rafael is located in the Aysen Región in Chile, about 120 km south of Puerto Chacabuco. The major tourist destination of San Rafael Glacier is about 50 km west of Mount San Valentín and is a member of the Northern Ice Field (Campo de Hielo Norte). The glacier is 45 km long and 2.5 km wide. The glacier walls can be over 70 meters high.
