The major tourist destination of San Rafael Glacier is about 50 km west of Mount San Valentín and is a member of the Northern Ice Field (Campo de Hielo Norte). The glacier is 45 km long and 2.5 km wide. The glacier walls can be over 70 meters high.

Castro is the capital of the country's second largest island of Chiloe, and is situated in the Región de Los Lagos. Castro is known for the stilt houses of the fishermen, which are found directly on the coast. The city has a mild climate with high humidity.

The port city of Puerto Montt is situated between the Andes mountains and the Patagonian fjords. Its location offers both locals and visitors amazing panoramas of the surrounding wilderness, such as views of the active volcano Calbuco.
