Santiago hosts 40% of the country's population and has become a cultural centre with breathtaking natural beauty in the vicinity. Santiago lies in the center of the Santiago Basin, a valley surrounded by mountain ranges. The city has a varying elevation, towards the west it is 400m above sea level whereas at the Plaza Baquedano it comes to 540m.
The Coquimbo port is home to two shipwrecks. Located on the highest mountain in the city and with a height of 92 meters, "The Cross of the Third Millenium' is the city's best-known monument. Near and around the city, you will also be able to visit some of the local wineries.
Arica has a population of 185,000 and is popularly known as the "City of Eternal Spring". Arica impresses not only with its gorgeous beaches and sparkling blue water, but also with its attractions such as the Archaeological Museum and the Customs House, which was designed by Gustav Eiffel.

The Pacific town of Callao is located in the Lima metropolitan region just ten miles west of the Peruvian capital. Callao services the country by both air and sea as the city acts as the nation's main seaport and airport. Due to the city's naval history, Callao was a major Spanish town in colonial times. Several islands line the coast of mainland Callao, such as the Palomino Island, a pristine habitat for sea lions and seabirds.
Manta is a port city on Ecuador's central coast. It's known for its tuna-fishing industry. The popular Murciélago Beach is on the city's northwestern tip. Bars and restaurants are clustered along the Malecón Escénico promenade and nearby streets. The low-key Tarqui Beach has a waterside fish market. Nearby, the Central Bank Museum contains pre-Columbian relics from indigenous tribes.
An island located off the west coast of Panama, Fuerte Amador is the gateway to Panama City. Sitting close to the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal, it offers the perfect place to watch ships enter the locks as they begin to traverse the canal. In addition to holding numerous canal-related museums and attractions, Fuerte Amador offers easy access to Panama City, the metropolis-like capital city and heart of the nation.
