Named after the British politician Lord Stanley, Port Stanley became the capital of the Falkland Islands in July 1845. Situated on the biggest island, East Falkland, visiting cruise passengers can partake in various tours and excursions, including nature walks, trips to neighboring islands, and wildlife tours. A visitor favorite is a tour to see the local penguins that inhabit the island.
Cape Horn is located on the headland of a Chilean rock island. The circumnavigation of the Cape was known as one of the most difficult river passages. The Atlantic and the Pacific meet here with their cold and warm water masses, meaning that a strong current is generated.
