Thira is a Greek island located on the South Aegean Volcanic Belt. In the western part of the island, one sees clearly that is the remnant of a volcano. Kavala is a city in northern Greece with about 74 000 inhabitants. It is a commercial port city and has been the twin city of Nuremberg since 1998. Sights worth seeing in Kavala are the two-storied aqueduct (ancient water pipe) from the the time of the Romans and the citadel of the 16th Century.
