After breakfast, you will be met by an English-speaking guide and pay a visit to the Grand Palace. The Palace was the residence of the early Chakri Dynasty kings built some 210 years ago. The complex houses not only the Royal residence and throne halls, but also government offices and the renowned Wat Phra Kaew, containing the most revered the Emerald Buddha Image in the country.
After breakfast, travel approximately 3 hours to Kanchanaburi, made famous by “The Bridge on the River Kwai”. Here, you will take a tour of the Death Railway and learn about the experience of Southeast Asian and Allied POWs, who were forced to work on the railway during the Japanese occupation of WWII. Next, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before paying respects to the victims at the Allied War Cemetery and Museum. Depart Kanchanaburi and travel approximately 3 hours south to the beach resort of Hua Hin, stopping en-route to visit a toddy palm plantation. Here, you will learn how to make "Toddy Palm Cake" with the local people and have the chance to sample some Toddy Palm Juice followed by lunch with the community.
This morning, transfer approximately 1.5-hours to visit Baan Thai community village, a traditional Thai community that has preserved its way of life and customs for centuries. Here, you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the locals and learn about their way of life and daily routines. Next, visit a pineapple plantation where you will learn about the cultivation and harvesting of this tropical fruit. You will have the chance to taste freshly picked pineapple and learn about the various uses of this versatile fruit in Thai cuisine.
Depart Hua Hin this morning and commence the 4-hour drive back to Bangkok, stopping en-route for lunch. On arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.
