Chinchero is renowned for the production of textiles done on backstrap looms. You watch as wool is carded, spun, and dyed and learn about the different techniques used to create belts, ponchos and shawls. During a weaving demonstration at the Andean community of Misminay your hostess will teach you the techniques used since many centuries ago by their ancestors. The preparation process includes the gathering of wool, and its spinning, plying and dyeing. The vistadome train ride takes you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas up to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, a small coach takes you up the steep roads to the entrance of the citadel. Sillustani is partially encircled by Umayo Lake, offering us a beautiful landscape. On clear days you will get a great sense of the sheer magnitude of this metropolis. Take a look at the iconic landmark statue of the Virgin Mother Mary watching over the city before descending the hill with the cable car.
