Today, visitors can still partake in this nautical tradition by sampling the island's excellent selection of rum.

Saint Croix is one of the main islands of the U.S. Virgin Islands and is located in the west of the island group. With over 53,000 inhabitants, it is the most populated of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The two most famous towns are Christiansted and St. Croixs Frederikstedt, both of Danish origin.
